Mizell Memorial Hospital Casuality Disposition Plan Tagging of all casualties with disaster identification tags (stored in Disaster Cart in ER hallway by treatment rooms) will be assigned to personnel from Admissions/Business Office/Health Information. A log of disposition of each patient will also be maintained by the personnel from Admissions/Business Office/Health Information TREATMENT CENTERS: In addition to the ER department, the following treatment centers will be established and directed by an assigned RN. FUNCTION Triage DESCRIPTION Area designated to rate all disaster patients LOCATION ER hall by back door & down hall by X-Ray/Admissions CONTROL ER Supervisor STAFFING ER/On-call physician; ER RN, Critical Care RNs, RT techs, X-Ray techs, Lab techs, Admissions/B. Office/Health Info personnel FUNCTION Priority I Critical/Immediate Care (RED) DESCRIPTION Visible hemorrhage Acute shock Major burns Incomplete amputations Crashing wounds of extremities Lacerations with severe bleeding Obstetrics Children without parents LOCATION 3rd floor (Hall 310,320,330) Surgical cases to OR Obstetrics to OB 2nd floor (*overflow from 3rd, North hallway) CONTROL RN Charge nurse STAFFING RN charge nurse, 2 physicians, additional Med/Surg RN, 6 LPN=s working in pairs and assigned a wing of floor, Unit secretary, OR/PACU nurses FUNCTION Priority II Doubtful prognosis (YELLOW) DESCRIPTION Multiple sever injuries Sever burns of >60% body surface Critical respiratory patients LOCATION 3rd floor (Hall 340) CONTROL Charge Nurse STAFFING RN charge nurse, 1 physician (Will also help with Priority IV), 1 LPN FUNCTION Priority III Delayed treatment (YELLOW) DESCRIPTION Closed fractures Extensive lacerations without sever bleeding Minor burns 10-20% body surface LOCATION 2nd floor - South hall CONTROL RN Charge nurse STAFFING RN charge nurse, 1 physician (will float Priority II, III, IV), 2 LPN/CNA or PT techs FUNCTION Priority IV Ambulatory, first-aidwill be self sufficient following treatment (GREEN) DESCRIPTION Minor lacerations and abrasions Minor contusions Second degree burns over < 10% body surface LOCATION Cafeteria/Small Dining Room CONTROL RN charge nurse STAFFING RN charge nurse, 3 LPNs to offer basic first-aid care then discharge FUNCTION Radioactive Decontamination DESCRIPTION Patients requiring radioactive decontamination LOCATION Outside ER on porch CONTROL Radiology Supervisor STAFFING Radiology techs FUNCTION DOA DESCRIPTION DOA patients LOCATION Morgue - basement CONTROL Lab supervisor STAFFING Lab techs/CNAs |
